    THE WHITE NOISE

The concept of this project is signal waves. One day my computer crashed while I was researching images on the Internet. The screen became distorted. I was inspired by the thought that signal cells can be transmitted through wires. Throughout the collection I use grids as my monitor, while ropes and ribbons weave in and out of the screen. Pulling the rope can distort the pattern as well as the silhouette. To focus on the distortion, some pieces use a mix of light and heavy fabrics. I use translucent fabrics in the collection to refer to signal waves: They are invisible but carry a message, which appears on the screen. My goal was for each garment to speak with a unique voice and to be self-explanatory, without being literal in concept. www.linyajun.com
