The New School's Campus Climate Assessment

The New School's social justice initiative, “campus climate” refers to the ways in which various constituencies experience a college or university atmosphere. The assessment will look at the extent to which aspects of the university are equitable and just based on socioeconomic status, race, gender, sexual orientation, and other identity dimensions. Findings and insights from this project will be used to inform policy and practices intended to make The New School more equitable and just community.

The assessment is being facilitated by Paul Gorski, associate professor at George Mason University and lead consultant with EdChange, an organization dedicated to developing more equitable educational communities.

Paul will be hosting meetings with various campus groups on the 16th. These sessions will provide an overview of the goals, processes, and timeline for the assessment, and how various constituencies will be involved. President David Van Zandt, Provost Tim Marshall and members of the Social Justice Committee will be at the meeting to help answer questions.
