Helen Caldicott, a Lannan award-winning activist named by the Smithsonian Institute as one of the most influential women of the twentieth century, has worked tirelessly for a safe, sustainable, nuclear-free planet. On November 8, Helen Caldicott will join renowned journalist Bob Herbert to discuss our most urgent global challenges and themes from her new book, Loving This Planet. Bob Herbert is a distinguished senior fellow with Demos and a contributing editor at The American Prospect magazine. From 1993 to 2011, he was an op-ed columnist for the New York Times, writing a twice-weekly column about politics, urban affairs, and social trends. Mr. Herbert’s numerous awards include the American Society of Newspaper Editors Award, the David Nyhan Prize from the Shorenstein Center at Harvard University, the Meyer Berger Award, and the Ridenhour Courage Prize for the “fearless articulation of unpopular truths.
