Imagining Edilia: A Collective Public Reading with Social Geographer David Harvey

7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

In the appendix of his book Spaces of Hope (2000), scholar and social geographer David Harvey outlines a Utopian dream in great detail:

The dreamscape of this vision called Edilia appeared to him while he was dozing off to Margaret Thatcher on the telly. As she repeated the phrase “there is no alternative!” over and over, Harvey’s unconscious took up her challenge.

Come listen to Harvey’s dream collectively read and critiqued. Join David Harvey who will be reading alongside members of The New School Social Justice Initiatives, as well as faculty and Dean Joel Towers. Participate, ask questions, converse with a stranger, and imagine something new, together.

This event is a project of The New Division: Empathic Department for Sound and Architecture, and is co-sponsored by Parsons AMT Fine Art and The New School Global Studies Department.
