![]() Wilson will discuss the Central Indiana Community Foundation’s recent cancellation of a commission it had given him for a public sculpture. The project was canceled following several years of debate between local government and community groups and numerous presentations by Wilson himself. Wilson will place this experience within the broader context of public art and the aims of his artistic practice. He has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (2005), Studio Museum in Harlem (2004), M. He was also selected to represent the United States at the 1992 Cairo Biennale and the 2003 Venice Biennale. Wilson received a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Achievement Award in 1999 and a Larry Aldrich Foundation Award in 2003. He is also a Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Object, Exhibition, and Knowledge at Skidmore College.
