AMT Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Antoni Muntadas

6:15 p.m.

The Visiting Artists Lecture Series is sponsored by the School of Art, Media, and Technology (AMT) at Parsons The New School for Design. Organized by Coco Fusco, director of Intermedia Initiatives at AMT, the series invites renowned artists from around the world to give free public presentations each Wednesday.

Antoni Muntadas was born in Barcelona in 1942 and has lived in New York since 1971. His works address such issues as the relationship between public and private space within social frameworks and the use of media to suppress or promote ideas. His projects are presented in media including photography, video, publications, the Internet, installations, and urban interventions. Muntadas’ work has been exhibited in numerous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Musée Contemporain de Montreal, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Museo de Arte Moderno (Buenos Aires), and the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona. His work has also been shown in documenta VI and X (Kassel, Germany) (1977, 1997), the Whitney Biennial of American Art (1991), the 51st Venice Biennial (2005), and biennials in São Paulo, Lyon, Taipei, Kwangju, and Havana.
