Global Issues in Design and Visuality in the 21st Century: Culture-Introduction to Global Issues: Culture as State and State of Mind

Presented by Susan Yelavich of the School of Art and Design History and Theory at Parsons The New School for Design, Global Issues is both a course and a lecture series open to the community.

In a world where people migrate more often and ideas and goods move faster than ever before, this lecture series examines the resulting cultural fusions and collisions as a source of new insights rather than just a catalyst for conflict. After an introduction to cultural theory, we explore the ways design and art critique and influence culture in the context of globalization.

This lecture is presented by Susan Yelavich, associate professor and director, MA Design Studies, School of Art and Design History and Theory, Parsons The New School for Design.
