Parsons fashion design student Angelica Casaverde shows off her work to Simon Collins and Reed Krakoff.
On Tuesday, April 5, students and faculty mingled with fashion industry leaders at the Reed Krakoff flagship store on Madison Avenue. The cocktails and conversation were all part of the pre-party for the Parsons Fashion Benefit, an annual gala that celebrates fashion visionaries and showcases top graduating student collections. This year’s benefit honoree is Reed Krakoff, the president and executive creative director at Coach and Reed Krakoff, and a Parsons alumnus.
For eleven Parsons Fashion students, the night also doubled as a chance to show off their skills, as they displayed looks from their fashion design collections in the Reed Krakoff showroom. The lucky students were: Monica Wesley, Myrtle Quillamor, Paige Kettering, Theresa Matthias, Kathy (Gyuhyeon) Sow, Brian O. Suter-Maury, Angelica Casaverde, Young Hwang, Diana Kim, JP Rangel, Nancy Park.
The Parsons Fashion Benefit will take place on May 9 at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers. In addition to honoring Krakoff, the evening will also pay special tribute to industry leaders Arnold Aronson and Marvin Traub. For more information, please visit www.newschool.edu/parsonsbenefit.
