Mira Schor, painter, writer, and faculty member of Parsons’ Fine Arts MFA and BFA programs, is the recipient of a 2009 Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. Schor received the grant for her blog project A Year of Positive Thinking, which will premiere in spring 2010 after the publication of her new collection of essays, A Decade of Negative Thinking: Essays on Art, Politics, and Daily Life.
The Arts Writers Grant Program awards a total of $710,000 to 26 writers. Grants are awarded in five categories—articles, blogs, books, new and alternative media, and short-form writing—and support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences.
Projects by Schor and other grantees fall into many genres, from scholarly studies to self-published blogs, but are united by a commitment to the craft of writing and the advancement of critical discourse on contemporary visual art.
