Parsons BFA Illustration program will present “Moving Pictures,” a symposium exploring ideas of motion in illustration, on Wednesday, November 11. The symposium, moderated by Lauren Redniss, New School Illustration faculty member and author of Century Girl and the forthcoming Radioactive, An Atomic Love Story, will feature panels and discussions with prominent illustrators and writers.
“Moving Pictures” include the following presentations: a lecture by Redniss about secret lives and invisibility; a conversation between Jody Rosen, music critic for Slate, and Joel Smith, curator of photography at the Princeton University Art Museum, which will consider real and imaginary map making; and a screening with Richard McGuire, artist, musician, and current fellow at the New York Public Library’s Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers, of his recent film Fears of the Dark and a sneak preview of his new book.
“Moving Pictures” will take place from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at a new location, the Theresa Lang Community and Student Center, 55 West 13th Street, 2nd floor. This event is free and open to the public.
