Henri Bendel And Parsons Celebrate First Annual Accessory Award Competition

Henri Bendel is proud to announce the winner of the first annual Henri Bendel Accessory Award at Parsons The New School for Design. A bag designed by student winner and Parsons alumna Nanae Takata, will be available for sale at Henri Bendel’s Fifth Avenue Flagship beginning November 1. The bag, Ode to Stripes, is a slouchy, bucket-style bag made of soft Italian leather, inspired by Bendel’s iconic brown and white stripe. Ode to Stripes will be featured in the retailer’s Fifth Avenue window from November 2- 9.

The bag was selected by an illustrious panel of judges including Carlos Falchi, Jeffery Parker, Tony Ta, and Anne Slowey. The panel saw over 35 entrants from Parson’s 2009 senior class.

“We are passionate about championing the new and the next in design talent. As I started looking at different curriculums around the country and realized that there was none based on accessories design,” remarks Ed Bucciarelli, Henri Bendel’s president and CEO. “We’re delighted to partner with such a respected school like Parsons and work closely with their senior class and promote accessory design at the university level.“

The competition for 2010 is already underway and the student winner will be announced in April 2010 Parsons Fashion Thesis Show.
