Andrew Bordwin splits his time between art, commercial photography and video projects. His work is in several private, museum and corporate collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Houston Museum of Fine Art, The Museum of the City of New York and The New York Public Library. Bordwin's Deco series is represented by Julie Saul Gallery, New York.
From 1998 until 2015, Bordwin worked with fellow Parsons Faculty Adam Ames as the art collaborative Type A. Their video, installation, photography, sculpture and drawing deal with issues of masculinity, competition and collaboration in contemporary society. Type A has exhibited extensively, including such institutions as The Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, The Denver Museum of Contemporary Art, The DeCordova Sculpture Park + Museum, The Luckman Fine Art Complex at California State University, The Walker Art Center, Art in General, The Addison Gallery of American Art, The List Visual Arts Center at MIT, Centrum Beeldende Kunst (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), Centro de la Imagen (Mexico City, Mexico), Contemporary Art Center (New Orleans, LA), Institute of Contemporary Art (Palm Beach, FL), UCLA Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, CA) and The Johnson Museum at Cornell University in addition to many private galleries. Bordwin has worked as a commercial photographer since 1988 for such clients as Tiffany and Co., Gensler, Studios Architecture, Silverstein Properties, Hilton Hotels, Elkus Manfredi Architects, Cunard Lines, Martha Stewart Omnimedia, and many others. He is represented by Randy Cole.
In 2012, Bordwin started Milkbox, a full service video production company. Since then, he has worked on commissions from The Downtown Alliance, James Biber (Pentagram), Gensler Architects, Novartis, VCU Institute for Contemporary Art, Barker DZP and Tai Ping. Milkbox is a collaboration with Edouard Nammour, a writer, director and producer with more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial video and independent moviemaking business.
