John Payne is a principal at Moment, a digital product design firm he co-founded in New York City in 2002. His current work explores the positive contribution that mobile technologies and experience design can make to healthcare and education, with a focus on empowerment of patients and learners. Educated in Design at Auburn University and Institute of Design at IIT (the New Bauhaus), John has lectured and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in design methodology at Pratt, Parsons, and NYU, most recently teaching a course on Designing Sustainable Business Models in Parsons' Masters of Strategic Design Management program. John has also participated in a variety of industry and corporate events as speaker and organizer. Recent activities have included hosting and running a series of workshops for IxDA NY and co-chairing EPIC (The Ethnographic Praxis in Industry Conference), an international conference devoted to the theory and practice of ethnography in the business world.
