  • Ioanna Theocharopoulou, Ph.D. in Architecture (History and Theory) Columbia University, MSc Advanced Architectural Design, Columbia University, Diploma in Architecture, Architectural Association, London, U.K. She has created and taught history / theory classes on Interior Design for Parsons and the Cooper-Hewitt MA Program, with an emphasis on the social and cultural dimensions of the interior. Her most recent research focuses on issues of urbanization and sustainability as well as on the history and theory of sustainable design. She has taken part in numerous academic conferences. Before coming to Parsons she taught at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University, where she initiated and co-curated a series of public events about issues of sustainability in architectural design, ECOGRAM: The Sustainability Question (2008, 2009, 2010). She is now working on a new series of public talks, called INSIDE hiSTORIES, that will explore the intellectual framework for the study of Interiors at Parsons, in collaboration with professor Sarah Lichtman, (ADHT).
