  • Carter Hodgkin combines 2 careers as an artist and interactive designer.As a designer, her experience includes strong technical skills using the Adobe Creative Suite along with coding. She has over 15 years' experience in Print and Web Design; Information Architecture; Online Promotions and Flash Development. She has designed sites for corporate clients such as Martha Stewart Omnimedia, LEGO, Scholastic, ATandT;, Dow Jones, Kodak, and Rodale Press. She has designed online promotions and games for clients such as British Airways, Martha Stewart Omnimedia, NBC, Universal Studios and Warner Brothers. As an artist Hodgkin delves into the world of physics, blurring boundaries between digital media, drawing and painting to create work reflecting states of instability. Exploring a new language of abstraction created by the algorithm, she manipulates computer code to simulate and transform atomic particle collisions into line and color. Hodgkin has exhibited throughout the U.S., Japan, Europe and India. Awards include the New York Foundation for the Arts (2009, 2002, 1989), the Gottlieb Foundation (2005) and the Pollock Krasner Foundation (2002).In Spring 2010 her first public art commission, "Electromagnetic Fall", a 3-story digitally-based mosaic mural will be unveiled at Queens College, New York. Her work is included in Art+Science Now, a survey of artists working at the frontiers of science and technology by Thames and Hudson. Her work is included public and private collections.Hodgkin graduated with a BFA in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA and lives in New York City.
