  • Jeffrey Lieber studied art history at Vassar College and received his Ph.D. in the History of Art from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His work brings together art history, architectural history, and visual culture studies. His current projects include a book on mid-century modern architecture, and its relationship to changing democratic ideals, in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s; a study of the socio-political and cultural meanings of megastructures in the 1970s; and an edited volume of the architecture criticism of Sybil Moholy-Nagy. His articles on modern and contemporary architecture have appeared in the Harvard Design Magazine, the Berlin-based journal Bauwelt, and the Neue Zurcher Zeitung. He has taught in the History of Art and Visual Culture Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has received grants for his work from the Delmas Foundation, the A.W. Mellon Foundation, and the French Ministry of Culture.
