Assistant Professor of Fashion Marketing
Gretchen Harnick is a fashion marketing professor, who has worked as an entrepreneur, special event planner and marketing specialist for nearly two decades. She has represented emerging designers, ran her own showroom in Chicago, sold to small boutiques and national retailers such as Kohl's and QVC. Her work has taken her to Bangkok, Thailand, and Kathmandu, Nepal for product development and buying. Before coming to Parsons, Gretchen was director of a bachelor's Fashion and Retail Management program in Pittsburgh, PA. She taught students on a semester abroad in Paris, France and was selected for her service to community as Pittsburgh's 50 Finest, 2009. Current interests in research cover social media in the fashion industry. Her research team (PSMRT-Parsons Social Media Research Team) produced a panel for NYC Social Media Week, 2011. She has written and will co-teach a Multimedia in Fashion course, Fall 2011 covering the growth of video in fashion marketing and journalism. Gretchen is the Coordinator of Fashion Marketing Online program, and is Editor of 560, The School of Fashion magazine.
