  • Sara Kozlowski is a maker, explorer and strategist with twenty years of experience in fashion design and education. Serving The School of Fashion as Director of External Projects, she curates opportunities for student engagement through relationships that include Kering, Style.com, Louis Vuitton, Amazon, Allen Edmonds, NYCEDC, and HSUS. As Parsons alum, Sara holds a BFA in Fashion Design with Byron Lars & Anna Sui Golden Thimble Awards and dMBA in Design Strategy from California College of the Arts. At CCA, her Thesis, The Thread Union modeled a print on demand production platform serving the third space between education and industry.

    Her design career began with recruitment by Anna Sui followed by the launch of her own brand sara kozlowski: CAKE. intially carried by X-Girl. Steven Alan represented the collection, selling at 40+ accounts worldwide, including Barneys, Intermix, TG-170, Browns, United Arrows, & Mitsukoshi. During its 6 years, CAKE., presented during NYFW seasonally and was featured editorially in WWD, Vogue, New York Times, Gap Japan, Bazaar, Figaro and others.Freelance textile, graphic, illustration and design projects included Anna Sui Jeans & Isetan, Steven Alan Men’s, Zoetrope and Shiseido.

    Full time educator of a decade, she currently teaches Design in Fashion Systems within MFA Fashion Design & Society and BFA Senior Thesis. She has contributed to the curricula of new program offerings including MPS and Executive Education for The New School. Prior to Parsons, she was Assistant Director of Fashion, specializing in senior collection, portfolio, and sustainability for BFA and MFA, Academy Art University, San Francisco. Student achievements have included numerous CFDA scholarship and external partnership awards, and successful global post graduation placements.

    2G globalization/ anti-obsolescence/ authenticity/ design disruption/ design within fashion systems/ digital manufacturing/ doodling/ emerging methodologies, platforms + ecologies / experimental 3D methods/ image-making/ intersections of craft + technology / organizational design / shape-making / spaces between education + industry / subliminal souvenirs / sustainable futures / textile and material innovations / vehicles of presentation
