Assistant Professor of Design, Design Strategies
Andrew Robinson is an artist, educator and designer. He is the principle of acrStudio, the arts and crafts research studio, which serves as a platform for his independent and collaborative projects pairing his work with designers, artisans, performers, technologists, writers, activists, anthropologists, et al. In addition to his primary work as an artist he is also an award winning designer with over fifteen years of experience working as a designer and creative director working on branding and digital design with firms such as R/GA, BBDO, Razorfish and companies in a range of industries from fashion and finance to e-commerce and telecommunications.He received a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He also studied ceramic sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art. In his youth he was apprenticed to a potter for eight years where he established an early foundation in working with his hands and a lifelong dedication to making. He lives and works in New York City and exhibits his art in the United States and abroad.
