  • Received undergraduate and graduate degrees in art history from the City University of New York, where he is currently a Ph.D. candidate. He also studied at the following institutions: Vassar College, Universit_ Laval, Columbia University, and the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. He is an alumnus of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Independent Study Program in Critical Studies.Specializes in contemporary art, Latin American art, curatorial studies, theory, and criticism. Curatorial work: has organized over 60 exhibitions in the Americas, Europe, and Asia; most recently co-curator, 2009 Beijing 798 Biennial; co-curator, 2008 Seoul International Media Art Biennial; artistic director, 2008 Yeosu International Art Festival. Publications: over 200 texts published in books, museum and gallery exhibition catalogs, magazines and journals, and electronic publishing. Many of his essays have been translated into Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. He is Contributing Editor, Art Nexus; U.S. Correspondent, Flash Art; and other texts have been published in Contemporary, TRANS, Zingmagazine, Estilo, PART, Eyeball, Journal of the West, Tema Celeste, Acrylic, LatinArt, Art in Culture, [Art Notes], Bridge, and FRAMEWORK: The Finnish Art Review. He is also the host of Art After Dark and After, an on-going curatorial project disguised as a talk show that has taped in galleries, hotels, art fairs, and limousines.
