For a second year, WantedDesign will host a transatlantic student design challenge, which will take place in real time at the event. Led by Parsons faculty members Mark Bechtel and Christian Schneider, students representing diverse design disciplines will work on teams to develop new products and systems that address one of the most valuable resources on the planet, our water supply, in the face of population explosions in megacities such as New York.
Students from Parsons, Art Center College of Design, ENSCI les ateliers, CENTRO Mexico, and ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres will spend the course of WantedDesign producing concepts, scenarios, animations, videos, and models, which will then be presented to the public as well as a jury of design professionals.
Each team will present its project to the jury during a public presentation on Monday, May 20, at 3:00 pm in the Conversation Lounge.
The jury includes Cindy Allen, Editor in Chief, Interior Design magazine; Mark Bechtel, Assistant Professor of Product Design, Parsons The New School for Design; Allan Chochinov, Chair of Products of Design, School of Visual Art; Phillippe Grohe, Brand Manager, AXOR; Christian Schneider, Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Design, Parsons The New School for Design; Simone Rothman, Chief Marketing Officer, Tai Ping; and Rami Fischler, designer.
The program is sponsored by Axor and Tai Ping and supported by Interior Design magazine.
This event is part of Parsons Festival 2013: www.newschool.edu/parsons/festival.
