DESIGN INDUSTRIES FOUNDATION FIGHTING AIDS (DIFFA )
Ongoing Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) is one of the country’s largest supporters of direct care for people living with, and preventive education for those at risk of, HIV/AIDS.
Every spring DIFFA hosts DINING BY DESIGN, a gala event where supporters dine in spaces that have been designed by leaders in the interior design field.
In 2008, a team of Parsons AAS Interior Design students designed a space for DINING BY DESIGN at Skylight, an 18,000-square-foot event space in SoHo, and, in 2009, at Pier 94, a 13,300-square-foot event space on the Hudson River in midtown Manhattan. The program expects to continue its involvement with the event in 2010.
Design an elegant, unique, and exciting dining environment for 10 people in an 11-by-11-foot space.
Our students’ participation in DINING BY DESIGN has allowed them to display their work alongside Marc Blackwell, David Stark, and Ralph Lauren Home.
Parsons students were teamed with interior designers who gave them feedback on their proposals. Parsons alum Jamie Drake served as team mentor in 2008 and Vincente Wolf worked with the students in 2009.
