Congratulations on your admission to Parsons The New School for Design. Welcome to one of the world's premier schools of art and design.

To become a Parsons student, please complete these steps:

1. Reserve Your Place in the Class and Pay Your Admission Tuition Deposit
   To accept your offer of admission and reserve your place in the class, visit my.newschool.edu and use the online system to pay your admission tuition deposit by the date stated in your acceptance letter. First-time users: Look up the net ID for your user name and enter your date of birth as your password (MMDDYY format). Returning users: Use your current log-in. Whether you are a first-time or returning user, if your password does not work, use the "Reset Your Password" link.

   Paying by mail

   If you are unable to use the online payment system, you can pay your $500 tuition deposit by mail with a check or money order made out to The New School. Download the Admission Reply Form (PDF) and send it with your payment by the date stated in your letter of acceptance.

   Special circumstances regarding the tuition deposit

   If you paid your deposit in a previous term or belong to a special program that exempts students from the tuition deposit, just return the Intent-to-enroll form included with your acceptance letter.

   If you decide not to attend

   We understand that plans change. If you are unable to accept our offer of admission, please complete this online form.

2. Check Your Financial Aid Status
   In order to receive financial aid, U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens must file the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov (The New School code is 002780). Carefully read all the comments on your Student Aid Report (SAR) and follow up as necessary. For complete information about applying for financial aid and financing options available to all students, go to Student Financial Services. If you have been awarded a scholarship and/or are eligible for financial aid and have a completed application on file, you can check the status of your financial aid online at my.newschool.edu. Sign in using the instructions above.
3. International Students: Begin the International Student Application Packet
   Accepted students who need the I-20 or DS-2019 form to apply for a visa to enter the United States receive a link to the online International Student Application Packet in their acceptance letters (or find the link via the Accepted Student tab in MyNewSchool). This web page includes information about applying for the I-20 or DS-2019, guidelines for providing required financial documents, instructions and procedures for F-1 transfer students, and other important forms and information. Advising and Registration

Students who have submitted their tuition deposit will receive an email from the Office of Advising introducing their academic advisors and giving them directions for scheduling an advising appointment and registration. More information and important dates can be found on the Parsons Advising Incoming Students page. All new students must have submitted the required tuition deposit either through the online system or the Admission Reply Form (PDF) in order to register or apply for university housing.

English Course Placement Test

All new students who are not native English speakers must take the English course placement test before they begin classes, regardless of fluency, previous English coursework, degrees/diplomas from US institutions, TOEFL score or SAT score. If English is not your first language, you must take the test. There are no exceptions. The test is administered before every semester during Orientation Week. Your scores will determine whether you will be required to take English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at The New School and whether any English course transfer credits can be applied to meet Parsons' first-year writing course requirement. The test is composed of the following sections: listening comprehension (recorded speech followed by multiple-choice questions), grammar questions (multiple choice), reading comprehension questions (multiple choice), one 30-minute essay (choice of two topics), and a brief oral interview.
