Important Announcements and Traveling Tips

Passports

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Department of State announced the official requirement for citizens of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda to present a passport to enter the United States when arriving by air from any part of the Western Hemisphere.

A separate proposed rule addressing land and sea travel will be published at a later date proposing specific requirements for travelers entering the United States through land and sea border crossings. U.S. citizens traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea will be required to present a valid passport or other documents to be determined by DHS.

Make Your Trip Better Using 3-1-1

  • 3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
  • Consolidate bottles into one bag and x-ray separately to speed screening.
  • Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
  • 3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
  • Declare larger liquids. Prescription medications, baby formula, and milk are allowed in quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
  • Come early and be patient. Heavy travel volumes and the enhanced security process may mean longer lines at security checkpoints.
  • TSA working with our partners. TSA works with airlines and airports to anticipate peak traffic and be ready for the traveling public.

It is our pleasure to announce that The New School has upgraded our travel procedures. Working with Omega World Travel, we have instituted the usage of an online booking tool called Cliqbook. Cliqbook is our primary reservation application.

This new tool will automate the travel approval process while eliminating the travel authorization form. Approvals are electronic, via email.

Procedure:

If you are a first time user, you will need to obtain a log in. Please send an email to purchasing@newschool.edu to request a log in. If you are a travel arranger, you will need to provide the name(s) of those that you are arranging travel for, and their appropriate managers. Also, please indicate if you will be making arrangements for "Guest Travelers."

If you are a traveler, please provide the name of the person approving your travel.

You can log into www.myouttask.com and begin the process. New users can access "View The Cliqbook User Guide" and "View the Cliqbook Training Video" in the lower right corner of the page for assistance.

Traveling Under a Government Grant
