The Role of Women in Today’s Economy
On April 2nd, the Institute for Women's Policy Research and the Wellesley Centers for Women sponsored a conference titled, “Achieving Equity for Women: Policy Alternatives for the New Administration.” The conference focused on how women are affected by the economic downturn as well as the role they can play in recovery.
Dr. Teresa Ghilarducci, Irene and Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of Economic Policy Analysis at The New School for Social Research, spoke on a panel discussing retirement, social security and aging. She discussed how our pension and social security systems can be improved to meet women’s needs in the coming decades. Ghilarducci’s comments are featured in a news segment by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).
