Center for Studies of Social Change
The Center for Studies of Social Change (CSSC) was founded in 1984 by Charles Tilly, who acted as its Director through 1995. CSSC is located at 80 Fifth Avenue, 5th floor, where it shares space and facilities with the Center for Economic Policy Analysis (CEPA) and the Committee on Historical Studies.
The mission of the Center is to support student and faculty research on large-scale social change, and to create a forum for promoting social scientific history. It has produced a series of working papers over the years, some of which are published electronically at Columbia University Press's CIAO website.
