Philosophy Workshop-Jean-Marc Narbonne-Creativity and the Purpose of Art in Aristotle's Poetics

6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

« Creativity » has often been considered a questionable concept when applied to Greek antiquity. By  investigating which type of beauty Aristotle is advocating in the case of poetry and which concept of art he has in mind when he analyses the nature of this very atypical knowledge, we will try to show in what sense one can effectively speak of some sort of ‘innovation’   or  ‘creativity’  in this groundbreaking ancient text.
