The Presocratics and their Legacy: A careful study of the Presocratic philosophers will be augmented by a selection of modern readings of the Presocratics, including Hegel, Nietzsche, and Heidegger. Careful attention will be paid both to the ways in which the Presocratics set the stage for the subsequent history of philosophy, as well as to paths they pointed out, but which were not taken.
