The seminar builds on previous empirical work comparing the business
cycles and growth patterns of selected advanced capitalist economies prior to
World War I with the cycles of the same countries following World War II.
The aim is to examine the role of financial markets in contributing to the
role of finance in connection with the stagnation of the later postwar years.
Prerequisite: permission of the instructor.
