Program information sessions are usually the first contact that aspiring students have with The New School. Held in an open forum, these typically include a presentation and Q&A with faculty and admission representatives. Information sessions are scheduled at convenient times for working students. Join us for one of our upcoming information sessions.
Find out more about what The New School for Social Research looks for in applicants and
learn how to put a solid application together. We discuss the
application essays in detail, focusing on the purpose of each essay in
the admission process, how they are evaluated, and tips on preparing for
and writing them. We also cover transfer credits, financial aid, and
other items important in the application process.
Prospective graduate students are strongly encouraged to meet one-on-one with an admission counselor, either before or after submitting an application.
One-on-one appointments can be scheduled Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except when the university is closed for holidays or recesses. From January 25 through April 19, appointments can also be scheduled on Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Admission office offers group advising sessions on Fridays. Join us for one of our upcoming information sessions.
