The School of Fashion welcomes you to the Fashion Marketing AAS degree program. The start of the program is an exciting time, and we look forward to addressing your questions and preparing you for a successful beginning. We encourage all students studying fashion marketing — whether you are on the New York City campus or studying online around the world — to be part of the Parsons community and be active in building relationships with faculty and classmates.
The online-only program offers unique opportunities for you to meet students from across the globe. You may also meet New York City–based students, who are also coming to the program with the goal of working in the fashion industry. We encourage you to get to know your classmates and build upon your network outside of the classroom, setting up Skype calls or using WhatsApp or other applications to connect with your peers.
While you should carefully review all information provided by the school, we would like to call your attention to some points of particular interest to students studying solely online.
You will soon hear from the School of Fashion's Advising office. Your advisor, Tyson Robertson, has your academic records and will help you plan your AAS course of study, from your first semester until you graduate. You can reach the Advising office by visiting the
Parsons Advisors webpage. Once registered, you can log in to the
Starfish network to make direct appointments with your advisor.

It is important that you have appropriate computer hardware and software, regular access to a reliable broadband (high-speed) Internet connection, and the ability to access Gmail, the New School email service provider, when studying at a distance online. Some classes may require particular software, which will be noted on the course syllabus and communicated by your faculty member.
My.NewSchool.edu is your online access point for the university. From there you can connect to your New School email and your online classes. You will log in to MyNewSchool to check for class availability, register for classes, link to the library, view your grades, and more.
Check your New School email account regularly, as official communications are sent only to your New School email address. You can add your New School email to the Gmail app on your smartphone.
Your online classes will be housed and accessed through
Canvas, the university’s learning management system. You can use any browser to access Canvas, and you will log in using the same log-in and password you use to access your New School email account. Refer to

You have access to a wealth of resources to support your academic endeavors. The
New School Libraries and Archives offer access to a rich array of digital collections, research guides, and databases. You can access these proprietary resources when you sign in via

You may wish to create your own portfolio site to share examples of your class projects and related work from your course of study. You can create your electronic learning portfolio by visiting
Portfolio.NewSchool.edu, where you can sign in with your New School username and password. Refer to the
