Off-Campus Program for Military Personnel
As part of it commitment to adult learning, The New School first began offering programs that cater to the needs of military personnel at Griffiss Air Force Base in Syracuse, New York, in 1976—and the Upstate New York program was later consolidated at the Nuclear Power Unit in Ballston Spa, where courses have been available since 1979.
More recently, Milano's Bachelor of Science in Human Resources has also been offered at the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, South Carolina. The flexible undergraduate program accommodates rotating work schedules and specific training needs, in Milano's tradition of combining theory and practice within a diverse and close-knit learning community. Milano's electronic campus reaches military personnel anywhere in the world with courses online that are the same in scope and content.
The New School will accept up to 81 lower-level transfer credits and nine upper-level credits, based on military training that corresponds to credits recommended by the American Council on Education. In addition, the Bachelor's program requires 10 core courses and a number of electives, taught by an active complement of part-time faculty with terminal degrees and/or extensive practice backgrounds.
Students emerge from the Off-Campus Program with competencies in global and local management, economic and data interpretation, analytical thinking, decision-making, and business communications.

The New School Online makes it possible for people all over the world to take Milano courses at their own convenience. Connecting through the Internet's World Wide Web to the cyberspace campus, students receive instruction, ask questions of the instructors and each other, discuss issues and actively participate in their classes. Students and faculty connect to the WWW and participate in class discussion from their homes, offices or wherever they may be. The process is asynchronous (that is, people log in to their courses and add their contributions to the dialogue at different times, 24/7). Without the constraints of time and place, students and faculty come to Milano from places around the world. The New School's electronic campus reaches wherever the web reaches. All courses online are the same in scope and content as those offered on campus. |
