Michael Bloomberg, the self-made billionaire turned mayor, challenged the assumptions that businessmen make inept politicians and that charisma is a prerequisite for the job.  Joyce Purnick’s new biography illuminates the man behind the public persona. She and others joined the Center for New York City Affairs  for a conversation about how Bloomberg and his money have reshaped the mayoralty, remade city politics, and upended notions of independent urban leadership.
