RUFF CUTS events are opportunities for all New School students to exhibit and discuss their media works in progress. RUFF CUTS is produced by graduate students in Media Studies. The sessions are open to all graduate Media Studies and Documentary Media Studies students, as well as graduate and undergraduate students throughout the university who would like to receive constructive feedback on their film, video, multimedia, and other works in progress or simply to participate in the viewings and discussions.

Media works in any format are welcome (film, video, audio, websites, performances). Six to nine works are reviewed at each RUFF CUTS event, time permitting.

Media Studies faculty members attend each session and contribute to a dialogue/critique with the students who are sharing their media works in progress.

To exhibit a work in progress at RUFF CUTS: Send an email to ruffcutsrsvp@gmail.com stating your name, your preferred date, and the title, format/genre, and TRT (total running time) of your work if applicable. If scheduled, please bring a copy of your work on DVD or a portable hard drive.
