The Idea of Copyright
Abstract: This paper discusses the two sides of the current copyright debate: those who advocate
lessening current laws and those who feel copyright laws need to be strengthened. The presenter will focus
on past cases, particularly in film, with regard to how the Internet and new media are shaping the current
debate.

Uncertainty in Times of Emergency
Abstract: In the aftermath of September 11th new realities arose despite the uncertainty that surrounded
them. New discourses, characters and wars are now frequently appearing on television. The use of metaphors
and radical speech is overwhelming and the difficulties related to our understanding of the problem remain
untouched. We assume many things, not because we are completely sure of them but because we have no other
means to reach some level of certainty. In the wake of such a tragic event, it is an even greater tragedy
to know of the great financial and organizational support this action received. To feel secure we need to
continue to ask questions and stop thinking that we know the plot perfectly well. Despotism and the image
of a new war, which is both international and internal (against an enemy that is everywhere) is one of the
most dangerous things the world can face in uncertain times.

The Clergy Speaks
(Video presentation)
Abstract: A year has passed since the September 11th attacks took place in America. People are still in
a state of "disbelief" and many are still suffering from the aftermath of the attacks. Many Americans,
especially New Yorkers, are still unemployed and are struggling to make ends meet. Americans across the nation
are still wondering: how could God allow something like this tragic event to take place on American soil?
Many have turned to the clergy for answers, but the question arises: does the clergy, in fact, have the answers?
In this exclusive 20-minute video, two members of the clergy discuss their opinions and outlook candidly with
regard to 9-11.
