The program's great flexibility, with a limited number of program requirements, gives students many options in plotting their own paths through the program, or in sampling a wide variety of approaches and techniques. In consultation with a faculty advisor, students choose from over 80 Media Studies courses every fall and spring semester and a limited selection of courses offered during an intensive summer term. Students may also take some courses offered in other graduate programs at The New School.
Media Studies students select courses from across the curriculum and may also choose to concentrate their study in one of several focus areas. These areas are designed to promote a broad, sequential, and multi-perspective investigation of a particular field of study or theme within Media Studies.
