Abstract: Aquasonora was inspired by my deep connection to swimming, which I have been doing for the past 20 years. This immersion attempts to transport the audience to a space created to stimulate what I perceive and feel while swimming. Hand-built hydrophones were attached to different points of my body while I swam a medley. This recording captures the unique sound of all the swimming strokes. By sharing this experience, I attempt to raise awareness, share, and network to build a community of people with similar interests. I also want these recordings to be used as a new way of perceiving sound by the incorporation of water as a medium for sound to travel though our bodies that are 85 percent water.
