Summer Intensive Program

Loading...

MA TESOL students interested in studying on site at The New School's Greenwich Village campus can expedite their studies by taking up to four courses (a maximum of 12 credits) in our eight-week summer intensive program. This is an opportunity to meet and learn from our distinguished instructors and interact with your classmates face-to-face...and experience a summer in New York City! If you are not a native speaker of English, it's a wonderful opportunity to be completely immersed in the language and apply your language skills to real-world experience in a vibrant, cosmopolitan setting.

For information about registration and answers to your questions, contact the English Language Studies office by calling 212.229.5372 or emailing elsc@newschool.edu.

The Outreach Program

MA TESOL Summer Outreach Program
Students can also complete an on-site practicum, teaching ESOL students who are participating in the MA TESOL Summer Outreach Program. Students thus gain valuable hands-on teaching experience, and fulfill a great need in the city for free English language classes. The mission of both the program and its students is to continue to provide this free service every summer; last year over sixty English language learners from various countries took classes from sixteen MA TESOL students.

The summer intensive curriculum includes seminars, guest lectures, field trips, and workshops. In your own time you are encouraged to take advantage of the cultural opportunities New York offers beyond the classroom: see Broadway play, enjoy a concert in Central Park or at a jazz club, and explore the historical sites, landmarks, and ethnic neighborhoods so vital to the city's character.

Housing
Affordable housing is available in university residence halls. You have to apply separately for university housing. Email summerhousing@newschool.edu and identify yourself as a New School MA TESOL summer intensive student.
