Currently a piano student of Richard Goode and Edward Aldwell in the Professional Studies Program, Yael Weiss is at age 24 already a highly sought-after soloist and chamber musician.
Performing extensively throughout the United States and abroad, she has presented recitals in New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Miami, San Francisco, Belgium, Germany, and Portugal, and appeared in concert with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony, and the Israel Chamber Orchestra.

Recently heard on WQXR's Young Concert Artists program, Ms. Weiss also appeared with cellist Han-na Chang for a benefit concert in New York and on international CNN's Showbiz Today for a recital given at Klavierhaus. A participant for two summers at the Marlboro Festival, Ms. Weiss has collaborated with many distinguished musicians and young composers, including members of the Guarneri Quartet, the Juilliard Quartet, the Orion Quartet, and the Beaux Arts Trio. At Marlboro, she also began two long lasting relationships with pianist Richard Goode and violinist Midori. For their most recent collaboration, Midori and Ms. Weiss performed in concert for the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, co-chaired by Zubin Mehta and Itzhak Perlman.

Born in Israel, Ms. Weiss began studying piano at the age of five, gave her first public performance at the age of eight, and debuted with orchestra at the age of twelve. When speaking of her studies with Mr. Goode and Mr. Aldwell, she describes her lessons as nothing less than "wonderful." Commenting on Mr. Goode and Mr. Aldwell's different areas of interest in piano pedagogy, Ms. Weiss explained how their styles complement each other and provide her with an incredible breadth of knowledge in performance technique and piano repertory. Named a Presser Scholar for her outstanding musical and academic achievements and elected as a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, she also received First Prize in the Kosciusko Foundation Chopin National Piano Competition (1993), First Prize in the Harrison Winter Concerto Competition (1994), and a grant from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. Ms. Weiss holds a Master's Degree from Mannes and a Bachelor's degree from the Peabody Conservatory, where her principal teachers were Leon Fleisher and Ellen Mack.
