William Gustafson

Achievements and critical acclaim resound throughout Dr. William Gustafson’s multifaceted career.  As an award-winning performer, stage director, teacher and administrator his work has been praised by the Denver Post as “a success in every way;” by The Boston Globe as “lively, amusing, and well worked out;” and as having showed “a well–judged sense of theater” by Opera News.  He has held positions at the New England Conservatory of Music, the University of Colorado at Boulder and the LIU Post Campus of Long Island University. Gustafson has earned degrees from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (DMA, MM) and the University of Connecticut (BM).

In his current role at Mannes College The New School for Music, Gustafson is deeply involved with curricular development and assessment, faculty recruitment and support, and enrollment management.  During his tenure at LIU Post, Gustafson oversaw efforts that enhanced the academic and student life experience of students and sought to increase persistence and graduation rates.  Recent directing credits include: Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Die Zauberflöte for the Sarasota Opera Company and Turandot for Opera Birmingham.
