Congratulations on your acceptance to Mannes College The New School for Music. We are pleased to welcome you to the New School community.

In order to become a New School student, please complete the steps below:

If you have already submitted your deposit: Go to the New Student Website to complete the enrollment process and obtain information about housing, registration, and orientation.

  1. Reserve Your Place in the Class/Pay Your Admission Tuition Deposit
To accept your offer of admission and reserve your place in the class, visit my.newschool.edu and use the online system to pay your admission tuition deposit by the date stated in your acceptance letter. First-time users: Look up your net ID for your user name and enter your date of birth as your password (MMDDYY format). Returning users: Use your current log-in. In either case, if your password does not work, use the "Reset Your Password" link. The deadline to submit your tuition deposit is May 1, 2012. If you need an extension of the deadline, contact Georgia Schmitt, director of Admission, as soon as possible: schmittg@newschool.edu.

If you have already submitted your deposit: Visit the New Student Website for the steps you need to take to complete the enrollment process and for information about housing, registration, and orientation.

If you have to pay by mail: If you are unable to use the online system to pay your $500 tuition deposit, you can mail a check or money order, made payable to The New School. Download the Admission Reply Form (PDF) and mail it with your payment by the date given in your admission letter.

Special circumstances regarding the tuition deposit: If you paid your deposit in a previous term or are part of a special program that exempts you from paying the deposit, just return the Intent to Enroll form that was included with your acceptance letter.

If you are not planning to attend: We understand that plans can change. If you decide not to accept our offer of admission, please complete the online form.

  2. Check Your Financial Aid Status
In order to receive financial aid, U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens must submit the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The New School code is 002780. Carefully read all the comments on your Student Aid Report (SAR) and follow up as necessary. Information about applying for financial aid and financing options available for all students can be found on the Student Financial Services website. If you have been awarded a scholarship and/or are eligible for financial aid and have a completed application on file, you can check the status of your financial aid at my.newschool.edu. Log in using the instructions above.

  3. International Students: Begin the International Student Application Packet
International students who need the I-20 or DS-2019 form to obtain a visa will receive a link to the online International Student Application Packet in their acceptance letters, or they can access the link via the Accepted Student tab in my.newschool.edu. This Web page includes information about applying for the I-20 or DS-2019, guidelines for providing financial documents, instructions and procedures for F-1 transfer students, and other important forms and information.
