Student Life

mannes students bulletin boardMannes offers students a warm, family-like environment in which they quickly make friends. Mannes students often enjoy the many cultural and social riches of New York City together.

In addition to attending one another's performances, students go to concerts and lectures at famous New York venues such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House, the 92nd Street Y, and Merkin Concert Hall. Free tickets are occasionally made available through the Mannes Concert Office.

With a New School ID card, students receive discounts on access to outstanding museums, landmarks, and tourist attractions.

In addition to attending traditional cultural events and institutions, Mannes students themselves organize a number of social gatherings.

Mannes offers its students accommodations through New School Housing, part of New School Student Services.

New School Housing offers secure, supervised, and supportive environments that can ease the transition from home to college, from culture to culture, and from rural/suburban to urban living.

Mannes students are not required to live in New School housing.

While students are free to choose to live in any residence hall offered by The New School (according to degree program), Mannes students are assigned placement at 84 William Street. Other residences include 13th Street, Loeb Hall, and Marlton House.

The costs for living in New School housing includes utilities, cable TV, and Internet service. Visit New School Housing for current rates and fees.

Meal Plan

Generally, Mannes students do not participate in New School meal plans because of Mannes' distance from dining facilities.

Student Health Services

Through Student Health Services, students have access to medical care, wellness education, counseling and psychological services, and a low-cost health insurance plan.
