The Extension Division welcomes all who wish to pursue music for their own self improvement and enjoyment—from adult beginners seeking musical outlets to working professionals wishing to refine their musical skills or add new ones.
Continuing Education
We offer continuing education courses in instrumental and vocal performance, composition, theory, music history, early music, opera, music technology, and career development. We also arrange for private instruction.
Diploma Program
The Extension Division grants the Mannes Extension Diploma, a unique undergraduate diploma program for musicians who already have a degree in another field and seek a conservatory education in a flexible environment.
Student Body
We serve approximately 350 adult students of diverse levels—from beginners to professionals—and about 70 diploma-seeking students.
