Michael Patterson is an Emmy Award winning composer who has done extensive work in Jazz as well as concert music and film. He is a graduate of the College-Conservatory of Music (BM '71) and the Eastman School of Music (MM '80). His work in jazz has included compositions and arrangements for artists like Woody Herman, Kenny Garrett, Woody Shaw, Marc Copland, Gene Beroncini, Roland Hanna, and Phil Woods and for his own jazz quintet and 16-piece big band. His film work includes episodes of the The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, over 50 episodes of JAG (CBS-TV), Tiny Toon Adventures with Steven Spielberg,and feature film work on Lucasfilm's Radioland Murders. Most recently he conducted and orchestrated Loenard Rosenman's score for the film Jurij, which received its premiere at the New york Film Festival in 2002. Active in education he has been Composer in Residence for the Henry Mancini Electronic Music lab at the Los Angeles High School for the Arts. He has written concert works for the Rochester Philharmonic, the Eastman Trompone Quartet, the American Jazz Philharmonic and the Ernest Bloch Chamber Ensemble. The Debussy Trio premiered three of his works at the Hollywood Bowl Summer Festival, 2001.
