The Application Process

Students are admitted to the preparatory school through an audition process that includes a theory placement test and an interview with the director and associate director. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee. Most students enter in the fall semester and enroll for the academic year (fall and spring semesters). The application deadline for new students for the next fall semester is March 15, and auditions for the fall admission are held in May. The application deadline for spring semester admission is November 15, and auditions are held in January. [View the academic calendar.] Note: Because the Techniques of Music course and most electives are year-long courses, course scheduling for students who enter in the spring semester is far less flexible than for those who enter in the fall.
The Renewal Process
Returning students must renew by April 1 to ensure a place for the following fall semester. The Renewal Form is issued by the Preparatory Division and must be returned by the deadline with the non-refundable tuition deposit. Course schedules are sent to continuing students shortly before the start of classes.
