English Conversation Groups
Do you wish you had a comfortable place where you could practice what you know and learn new vocabulary and expressions? The Learning Center hosts weekly ESL conversation groups (PDF) every Thursday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. The fall 2015 conversation group will begin on Thursday, October 8.
The group sessions are informal and consist of activities and discussions designed to develop your English speaking and listening skills and expand your vocabulary. So come, bring your lunch, chat, meet new people, and have fun.
Are you struggling with your English pronunciation? Are you frustrated with people asking you to repeat yourself or not understanding you? If you answered yes to either of these questions, consider taking a free pronunciation class at the University Learning Center. In this class, you will train your muscles to correctly produce sounds in English, learn where stress falls in words and sentences, master correct intonation, learn to differentiate between similar sounds, and gain confidence in speaking.
Fall 2015 classes will start the week of October 5 and be held
- Mondays, 4:00-5:15 p.m. (October 5-November 30)
- Wednesdays, 12:15-1:30 p.m. (October 7-December 2)
To sign up, you must email Amelia Byrnes.
Classes will be held at 66 West 12th Street, room 609.
