Roy P. Moskowitz, General Counsel and Vice President for Legal Affairs
Roy provides legal support and counsel to The New School's trustees, president, and senior administrators, and supervises all legal work of the university through the Office of the General Counsel. For the past twenty-five years, Roy has worked with educational institutions. Prior to joining The New School in 2006, he served as deputy to the regional superintendent at the New York City Department of Education (2000-2004), deputy general counsel and general counsel for the City University of New York (1990-2000), deputy counsel to the New York State Education Department (1988-1990), and managing attorney to Advocates for Children of New York (1986-1988). He earned his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law and was in the first entering class at State University of New York, College at Purchase, where he received his BA in political science.
