Recognizing the value that faculty members bring to the university through their scholarship, The New School is committed to supporting faculty research and creative and professional practice. The key research support functions of the Office of the Provost are

  • Providing guidelines and policies for sponsored projects and research
  • Administering and supporting the university's Institutional Review Board
  • Building grantsmanship capacity through trainings, workshops, forums, and sharing of best practices for principal investigators (PIs) and project directors (PDs) within divisions at the university
  • Facilitating faculty research collaborations and networks internally and externally
  • Providing strategic proposal and budget development support to PIs, PDs, and graduate students pursuing sponsored projects awards at the university
  • Providing pre-award technical review and online proposal submission assistance for federal and non-federal funding agencies
  • Administering internal Provost Office-supported grants programs available to full-time and part-time faculty, including the Faculty Research Fund  
  • Conducting outreach and disseminating information about research opportunities and deadlines within the New School academic community
