Awards for 2012-2013

Coco Fusco, Associate Professor of Fine Arts, Parsons, and Chris Stover, Assistant Professor of Jazz, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. A grant of $4,100 will support "Symbolic Transformations: Radical Uses of Performance and Social Media in Cuba Today," a two-day symposium on emergent counter-cultures in Cuba and their use of social media.

Lisa Grocott, Associate Professor of Design, Parsons, Jessica Corr, Assistant Professor of Core Studies, SDS, Parsons, and Melinda Wax, Assistant Professor of Design, Parsons. A grant of $2,250 will support "Designing and Learning: Challenging and Engaging," a panel discussion as part of a two-day workshop on design thinking for educators.

Cynthia Lawson, Associate Professor of Integrated Design, Parsons, Fabiola Berdiel, Assistant Director GPIA for International Field Programs, Milano, and Pascal Gatzen, Associate Professor of the Body Garment Track, SDS, Parsons. A grant of $4,100 will support a two-day symposium, a week long exhibition, and a workshop series on community-engaged design.

Fabio Parasecoli, Associate Professor of Food Studies, NSPE, and Arien Mack, Alfred J. and Monette C. Marrow Professor of Psychology, The New School for Social Research. A grant of $2,500 will support "Food Insecurity and Migration," a two-day conference to engage both experts and the public in discussions about food and migration.

Gina Walker, Associate Professor of Women’s Studies, NSPE, and Carin Kuoni, Director of the Vera List Center for Art and Politics. A grant of $2,100 will support "Toward a More Perfect History for the 21st Century," a symposium on the work of New School students about women of the past, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Susan Yelavich, Associate Professor and Director of Masters in Design Studies Program, Parsons. A grant of $3,000 will support "Negotiating the Terrain of Design Studies: Research, Reflection, Practice," a symposium to mark the inaugural year of the MA in Design Studies at Parsons, and to reflect and debate on the program.
