Cinzia Arruzza, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, The New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts

Cinzia Arruzza, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, The New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang College. Born and raised in Italy, I studied in Rome, Fribourg and Bonn. In 2010 I moved to NYC to teach at the New School where I continue to work not only on ancient philosophy, concentrating on ancient political thought and metaphysics, but also on feminism and Marxism. My work on feminism seeks to address the question of the relationship between capitalism and gender oppression from a theoretical viewpoint, and to contribute to the synergy between gender and class struggles. Prior to my arrival to the New School and to NYC, I was a long-term global justice, feminist, and anti-capitalist activist and organizer in Italy. As a former student organizer I am particularly interested in the impact that class, gender and race dimensions have on students and on the right to a high quality education.
